Getting it out, let’s YOU get back in

Unfortunately most people with stress, anxiety and depression go untreated, resulting in an unnecessary added risk for Chronic Heart Disease. This is crazy.  Y’know what’s worse - apparently the reason why is because we don’t seek help when we need it?

Honestly, this baffles me and yet I completely get it - I never asked for help either.

So what do I know about this?

I, too, was in a job that I gave my everything, told myself everyday I loved the challenge and came home exhausted and alone with nothing but a bottle of wine and some Lite n Easy to get excited about. I worked too hard and for too long each day and for what?

Stressed out, binge eating, smoking and drinking way too much and overworking because I thought it made me something.  I actually thought it might lead me somewhere because I gave my everything for years.  And it did … it led me to redundancy and rejection.

I was left unemployed, burnt out, sobbing and full of anger.  Mostly I was left on my own with bills to pay, mortgage, caring for others, a lifestyle I could now no longer afford all while in the middle of a pandemic. What the hell was I going to do?

I lay in bed one night, feeling the stress in my chest and back and hearing my laboured breathing…wondering how I got myself here.  I didn’t want to have a heart attack nor spend the rest of my life on anxiety medication.

So I know a bit about the corporate stresses of work and trying to build a life that fails, primarily because of a willingness to keep climbing the wrong ladder, reaching for what we think is the life we want.

What if we could reach for the life we deserve instead? A life of meaning and calm, a life that captures your essence of happy?

This is what I do now. I use my life experience and qualifications to help others grow through their challenges, whether that be relationships that have had their time in the sun, work stress or the dreaded anxiety that seems to have wedged itself quite firmly into our daily lives.

I tell you all of this today, so that you know … I know.

I wish I had known then, what I know now. Therapy is just talking to another person honestly and bravely, a person who gets it.  It doesn’t have to be contrived or condescending, it doesn’t even need to change your whole life. It just needs to adapt the current you to the now you.  The demands of your life require you to adjust.

Getting it out, helps YOU get back in.

Talk to me … I’m here.
